The Bear Country Jubilee was one of Creative Engineering's first full animatronic shows. It was the predecessor to The Hard Luck Bears and The Rock-afire Explosion. The show was built between 1977 and 1978 and is based on Disney's "Country Bear Jamboree".

Info[]

The center stage band's name was the "Four Seasoned Bears" (after Country Bear Jamboree's Five Bear Rugs).

The names of the characters include:

  • Pierre and Waldo - The hosts of the show. Pierre spoke with a French accent. They were located on stage left.
  • Fingers Dan - A bear who played the piano and was a member of the Four Seasoned Bears.
  • Chet Faddikins - A bear who played bass guitar and was a member of the Four Seasoned Bears.
  • Buddy Crash - A bear who played the drums and was a member of the Four Seasoned Bears.
  • Boom Boom Bosco - A bear who played the cello and was a member of the Four Seasoned Bears. Waldo mentions that he's the coolest member of the band.
  • Beatrice - An elderly female bear. She was located on stage right.
  • Skunk - A skunk who sat on top of Fingers Dan's piano.

The show was very limited in movement, but the show was later updated with new movements, characters and given a hillbilly theme to become the Country Bear Jubilee.

After many years of performing at Morey's Piers in Wildwood, New Jersey, the show was sold back to Creative Engineering and now resides in storage at Creative Engineering's Headquarters in Orlando, Florida. A show was also sold to Americana Amusement Park in Monroe, Ohio.

Trivia[]

  • The masks of Buddy, Boom Boom Bosco, and Beatrice would later be used for the Wolfman, Beach Bear, and Queenie in The Wolf Pack 5. The mask of Waldo would later be redesigned and used on the Country Bear Jubilee / Hard Luck Bears character Repete Thornsberry.
  • In the photo of center stage (see gallery), a character that strongly resembles Choo-Choo can be seen next to Chet Faddikins.
