Pizzacam, also known as the Camera or the Camera Man, is a prop character that is installed on stage left at Chuck E. Cheese's 3-Stage locations containing Munch's Make Believe Band. He is located on Stage Left with drummer Pasqually.
The character was never acknowledged by name by the other characters. During the "Charlie Rockit" intermissions during the You're a Star Showtape from September 1993, Charlie identified him as "Pizzacam".
History[]
Prior to Concept Unification, Pizzacam's animatronic belonged to ShowBiz Pizza Place's Rock-afire character, Looney Bird.
Pizzacam appeared as a puppet in the two "Charlie Rockit" intermissions from the You're a Star showtape in September 1993. In the intermissions, Pizzacam delivers letters to Charlie about the Unidentified Flying Pizza (UFP) landing at Chuck E. Cheese's by carrying them in his mouth and flying through the air.
Beginning in the mid to late 2000s, the Pizzacam animatronics began to be removed from the 3-Stage locations due to poor conditions. Locations that removed him also boarded up his trapdoor and carpeted it over. Some locations additionally moved Pasqually to the center of the stage afterwards while others only removed Pizzacam himself, choosing to keep the speaker in his memory.
The Richmond, Virginia location had a Pizzacam that was in poor condition. He was restored by a fan in August of 2017[1], who gave him a new mask and shell. Yet, he was removed in December 2018 because the tolomatic lift cylinder was broken and too expensive to repair.
The last location to have an operational, regular Pizzacam before Pineville installed theirs was at the Huntsville, Alabama location. It removed its 3-Stage for 2.0 on March 29, 2023.
Laurel, Maryland's location was the last location to have a Pizzacam with a latex mask (albeit without his teeth). This location received 2.0 in June 2022. Their Pizzacam was sent to the Charlotte (Pineville), NC location two years later to be added to their 3-Stage as part of the 2.0 remodel for Legacy Locations that Pineville was receiving. Pizzacam was installed on June 18th, 2024 in time for the Grand Reopening and was properly operational. The speaker box used at Pineville was originally from Madison, TN. His mask (reused from Laurel) was repainted in January 2025.
Appearance[]
Pizzacam is a blue (or occasionally black) anthropomorphized television camera with a lens for the nose, and a mouth with two buck teeth (although later on, he would lose the buck teeth). He rises from a speaker box, which replaces Looney Bird's oil barrel.
In a handful of shows, his animatronic moved to the announcer's voice. He occasionally sung backup, similar to the Moon and the Building and bounced up and down to the music.
Trivia[]
- Pizzacam has had two separate mask molds. Both are nearly identical with only slight differences in detail.
- Some locations customized their Pizzacam's appearance.
- The Huntsville, AL location used to have a bandana on Pizzacam in 2013.
- The Huntsville, Alabama, Roanoke, Virginia, and Madison, Tennessee locations had new cosmetics made from black plastic. These cosmetics were made by the Huntsville tech and were installed in the early to mid 2010s.
- Unlike Looney Bird, Pizzacam didn't normally have a voice or dialogue in shows.
- The Billings, Montana location was the last location to have Pizzacam's speaker without Pizzacam himself. This location received 2.0 in July 2024.
- Richmond (Midlothian), Virginia was the second to last location to have Pizzacam's speaker. This location received 2.0 in January 2023.
