The Studio C Prototype (known by many as the "Studio C Alpha / Beta Mix" or rarely the "Small Town Studio C Prototype") was a stage format that operated at 6 Chuck E. Cheese's restaurants. 1 in Georgia, 3 in Texas, 1 in Saudi Arabia and 1 in Tennessee. It was the second stage to use the "Studio C" title after the Studio C Alpha. It debuted on April 10, 1999, at the Athens, Georgia location, and went extinct on October 18, 2022, after the Midland, Texas location was remodeled for 2.0.
History[]
The Studio C Prototype was first tested at the Athens, Georgia, Tyler, Texas, and Brownsville, Texas restaurants in April 1999. This stage had a one-year testing period before Studio C Beta rolled out a year later.
Another unique location with this stage was Clarksville, Tennessee. It was the last location to install a stage of this kind, opening in February 2001. Clarksville featured a unique TV setup to the right of the stage with a unique TV base, and a light display on top of the TV, making it one of two locations to have this (Tyler, Texas would also have it, but would remove it later on). It was also the third to last location with a Studio C Prototype to have Bird. It was the last location with this stage to feature working curtains. It was one of two of Tennessee’s Prototype/Test Stages, the other one being a Studio C Cappa located at the Jackson, Tennessee location, which still has it as of November 2022. Clarksville remodeled to 2.0 in Fall 2019, replacing their stage.
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia opened on December 12, 2000, with a Studio C Prototype. However, there were elements from a Studio C Alpha. Jeddah would permanently close in July 2019, making their stage extinct.
The design of the Jeddah's stage was unique, as the stage platform was in the middle, with a 32m Chuck E. Cheese animatronic created by Garner Holt Productions, Inc., and Bird, and the Pizza Phone, with the jukebox backdrop. The left side of the stage featured the side of a Studio C Alpha, complete with a monitor, Interactive Console, and Blue Screen with camera. The right side of the stage featured what was on the left, but flipped, making the stage have two Interactive Consoles, Blue Screens and cameras, and monitors, making it even more unique. The Interactive Consoles were later removed. The Chuck E. Cheese animatronic wore his Late Night tuxedo outfit, which they would retain until they closed, making it extinct.
On October 18th, 2022, the Studio C Prototype went extinct after the Midland, TX location removed it as part of their 2.0 remodel.
Design[]
The Studio C Prototype featured a 32m Chuck E. Cheese figure created by Garner Holt Productions, Inc., his companion Bird, the Pizza Time Clock (Only at Athens and Clarksville), and a backdrop that resembled the top of a jukebox and a curve with different lights similar to the desk panels on Studio C Alpha. Athens, Georgia was the last location to still have Bird. There was also an applause sign similar to the one used by Rolfe DeWolfe from The Rock-afire Explosion.
